1. Measured connection

This feature is available directly from Microsoft to limit the use of quotas on a mobile Internet network. To activate it, users just need to go to Settings> Network & Internet. There is an option in the WiFi menu Expanded options in which settings are available for Measured connection.

After switching on, Windows Update will notify you that you can start the process download when connected to a Wi-Fi network. If the user still wants to get updates even in a limited situation, the user simply presses the button download which is available.


2. Via group policies

There may be some users like me who want to keep getting updates but choose what to get like the previous Windows. This option is available through Group policy but only for Windows 10 Pro, Enterprise and Education.

To access it, users need to press Windows + R keyboard and enter gpedit.msc. Next, navigate to Computer Configuration Administrative Templates Windows Components Windows Updates.

In the right pane, find “Configure Automatic Update” and double-click it. If changed in condition Activate then all options are available as in the previous windows.


With these two ways to disable Windows 10 automatic updates, you no longer have to worry about your internet data quota being sucked out. But it’s good if the update is still activated for security reasons Update when connected to WiFi.
